New King James Version | English Standard Version |
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. | 1O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. |
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. | 2Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. |
My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD—how long? | 3My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD—how long? |
Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! | 4Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. |
For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks? | 5For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise? |
I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. | 6I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. |
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. | 7My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer. |
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly. | 10All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment. |
