A Psalm of David. To bring to remembrance. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure!1A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
For Your arrows pierce me deeply, And Your hand presses me down.2For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.
There is no soundness in my flesh Because of Your anger, Nor any health in my bones Because of my sin.3There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.4For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
My wounds are foul and festering Because of my foolishness.5My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.6I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
For my loins are full of inflammation, And there is no soundness in my flesh.7For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart.8I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You.9Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
My heart pants, my strength fails me; As for the light of my eyes, it also has gone from me.10My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, And my relatives stand afar off.11My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long.12They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth.13But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response.14Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God.15For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
For I said, “Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, Lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me.”16For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.
For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me.17For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin.18For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
But my enemies are vigorous, and they are strong; And those who hate me wrongfully have multiplied.19But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
Those also who render evil for good, They are my adversaries, because I follow what is good.20They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.
Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me!21Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.
Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!22Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
