A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. | 1A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! |
Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah | 2Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." |
But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. | 3But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. |
I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah | 4I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. |
I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me. | 5I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. |
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around. | 6I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. |
Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. | 7Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. |
Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah | 8From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. |
