Hebrews 3
NLT Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest.1Therefore, holy brothers, partners in a heavenly calling, keep your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.
For he was faithful to God, who appointed him, just as Moses served faithfully when he was entrusted with God’s entire house.2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was in all God's household,
But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a house deserves more praise than the house itself.3because he is worthy of greater glory than Moses in the same way that the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.4After all, every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
Moses was certainly faithful in God’s house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later.5Moses was faithful in all God's household as a servant who was to testify to what would be said later,
But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.6but the Messiah was faithful as the Son in charge of God's household, and we are his household if we hold on to our courage and the hope in which we rejoice.
That is why the Holy Spirit says, “Today when you hear his voice,7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness.8do not harden your hearts as they did when they provoked me during the time of testing in the wilderness.
There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years.9There your ancestors tested me, even though they had seen my actions
So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’10for 40 years. That is why I was indignant with that generation and said, 'They are always going astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.'
So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”11So in my anger I swore a solemn oath that they would never enter my rest."
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.12See to it, my brothers, that no evil, unbelieving heart is found in any of you, as shown by your turning away from the living God.
You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.13Instead, continue to encourage one another every day, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin,
For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.14because we are the Messiah's partners only if we hold on to our original confidence to the end.
Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.”15As it is said, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as they did when they provoked me."
And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt?16Now who heard him and provoked him? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness?17And with whom was he angry for 40 years? Was it not with those who sinned and whose bodies fell dead in the wilderness?
And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him?18And to whom did he swear that they would never enter his rest? It was to those who disobeyed him, was it not?
So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.19So we see that they were unable to enter because of their unbelief.
