| 1LORD, remember David and all that he suffered. | 1LORD, remember in David's favor all of his troubles; |
| 2He made a solemn promise to the LORD. He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel, | 2how he swore an oath to the LORD, vowing to the Mighty One of Jacob, |
| 3“I will not go home; I will not let myself rest. | 3"I will not enter my house, or lie down on my bed, |
| 4I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber | 4or let myself go to sleep or even take a nap, |
| 5until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.” | 5until I locate a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." |
| 6We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah; then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar. | 6We heard about it in Ephrata; we found it in the fields of Jaar. |
| 7Let us go to the sanctuary of the LORD; let us worship at the footstool of his throne. | 7Let's go to his dwelling place and worship at his footstool. |
