New Living Translation | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. | 1For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave. Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by. |
I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. | 2I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me. |
He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness. | 3He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth. |
I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords. | 4My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword. |
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth. | 5Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. |
My enemies have set a trap for me. I am weary from distress. They have dug a deep pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it. Interlude | 6They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They themselves have fallen into the midst of it. Selah. |
My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises! | 7My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! |
Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. | 8Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. |
I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. | 9I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. |
For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | 10For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth to the clouds. |
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. | 11Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. |
