New Living Translation | New International Version |
O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. | 1For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament. |
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. | 2Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. |
Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. | 3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. |
O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked. | 4For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. |
Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil. | 5The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; |
You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers. | 6you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest. |
Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe. | 7But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple. |
Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow. | 8Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make your way straight before me. |
My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery. | 9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies. |
O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. | 10Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. |
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. | 11But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. |
For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love. | 12Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. |
