New Living Translation | New International Version |
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. | 1A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, |
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, | 2proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, |
accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. | 3to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. |
You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. | 4For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. |
O LORD, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. | 5How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts! |
Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: | 6Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand, |
Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. | 7that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. |
But you, O LORD, will be exalted forever. | 8But you, LORD, are forever exalted. |
Your enemies, LORD, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. | 9For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. | 10You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me. |
My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. | 11My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes. |
But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. | 12The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; |
For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. | 13planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. |
Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. | 14They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, |
They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” | 15proclaiming, "The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him." |
