How can we daily offer sacrifices to God?
In what ways can we offer our own "sacrifices" to God daily?

Key Verse

“Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

What a “Living Sacrifice” Means

• In the Old Testament a sacrifice was placed on the altar, totally given over to God.

• In the New Testament, Jesus fulfilled the once-for-all sin offering (Hebrews 10:10).

• Believers now respond by placing themselves—mind, body, and will—on the altar each day.

Daily Ways to Offer Our Sacrifices

1. Sacrifice of Praise

• “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess His name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

• Start and finish the day verbalizing gratitude; praise Him aloud in the car, in the kitchen, on a walk.

2. Sacrifice of Doing Good and Sharing

• “And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” (Hebrews 13:16)

• Give time, encouragement, and resources to someone in need—even when inconvenient.

3. Sacrifice of Obedient Living

• Jesus said, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.” (John 14:23)

• Obey promptly in small choices—what you watch, how you speak, how you respond under pressure.

4. Sacrifice of Our Bodies

• Guard purity (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

• Use physical energy to serve—help a neighbor move furniture, volunteer at church, hold a crying baby.

5. Sacrifice of Renewed Minds

Romans 12:2 calls us to reject the world’s mold and be transformed by God’s Word.

• Schedule daily Scripture intake; replace ungodly thoughts with truth.

6. Sacrifice of Brokenness and Repentance

• “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)

• Quickly confess sin; embrace humility rather than self-defense.

7. Sacrifice of Financial Giving

• Paul calls monetary gifts “a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” (Philippians 4:18)

• Budget generosity first, not last.

Putting It into Practice

• Begin each morning by consciously placing yourself on God’s altar: “Lord, all I am is Yours today.”

• Keep a gratitude list; offer praise every time you add an item.

• Look for one specific act of kindness to perform before bedtime.

• Memorize a verse each week to renew your mind.

• Audit your calendar and finances monthly, ensuring they reflect sacrificial priorities.

Encouragement to Persist

As we repeatedly lay ourselves before God, He shapes us into “a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5) The altar is no longer a distant structure—it’s the everyday moments where our surrendered lives rise like a pleasing aroma to Him.
