How can we glorify God in community?
In what ways can we "ascribe glory" to God in our community?

Key Verse

“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.” – Psalm 29:2

What Does It Mean to “Ascribe Glory”?

• “To ascribe” is to intentionally credit, attribute, or acknowledge.

• “Glory” refers to God’s unmatched worth, brilliance, power, and character (Exodus 15:11; Isaiah 6:3).

When we publicly credit God for who He is and what He has done, we “ascribe glory” to Him.

Why Bring the Community In?

God’s plan has always been corporate worship and communal witness (1 Peter 2:9-10; Hebrews 10:24-25). A shared, visible testimony magnifies Him beyond what isolated individuals can do.

Practical Ways to Ascribe Glory to God in Our Community

1. Public Worship Gatherings

• Sing truth-filled songs that exalt His attributes (Psalm 95:1-3).

• Read Scripture aloud so everyone hears His voice together (1 Timothy 4:13).

• Make testimonies a regular feature—stories of salvation, provision, healing (Psalm 107:2).

2. Everyday Speech

• Replace casual “luck” language with clear acknowledgments of God’s hand (James 4:15).

• Use social media to credit God for blessings, not just personal effort (Psalm 34:3).

• Encourage one another by pointing out God’s work in each other’s lives (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

3. Acts of Service and Mercy

• Volunteer together at shelters, food banks, clinics—letting recipients know the motivation is Christ’s love (Matthew 5:16).

• Host community projects (yard clean-ups, tutoring) and begin with brief Scripture and prayer of thanks.

• Support missionaries and local evangelism publicly, celebrating God’s global glory (Psalm 96:3).

4. Stewardship of Resources

• Give generously and transparently to church and benevolent needs—crediting God as Provider (2 Corinthians 9:11-13).

• Share tools, vehicles, or expertise so neighbors see God’s people as open-handed.

• Celebrate answered needs together, praising God, not donors, as ultimate source (Philippians 4:19-20).

5. Corporate Obedience in Hard Times

• When crisis hits, gather for worship before strategizing solutions (2 Chronicles 20:3-12).

• Speak of God’s sovereignty and goodness even while grieving losses (Job 1:20-21).

• Hold fast to Scripture promises publicly so observers note steadfast hope (Romans 15:13).

6. Artistic and Cultural Expressions

• Organize community concerts, art shows, or dramas that highlight biblical themes (Psalm 150:3-6).

• Display Scripture in community spaces, cafés, or events—visually ascribing glory.

• Publish local stories, poems, or blogs that spotlight God’s attributes.

The Ripple Effect

When a community consistently credits God, two results emerge:

• Believers grow in joyful humility (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

• Unbelievers see unmistakable evidence of His greatness (Acts 2:46-47).

Living It Out Together

Let’s decide that nothing good passes unnoticed or uncredited. Whether we gather for worship, lend a hand, or meet a neighbor’s need, we can intentionally say, sing, and show: “All glory belongs to the LORD.” Then our community becomes a living echo of Psalm 115:1 – “Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name be the glory, because of Your loving devotion, because of Your faithfulness.”

How does Psalm 29:1 connect with Revelation 4:11 on God's glory?
