How can we show God's glory today?
In what ways can we reflect God's glory in our community today?

Anchoring Our Hearts in Psalm 57:5

“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may Your glory cover all the earth.” (Psalm 57:5)

The verse is a cry for God’s fame to fill every corner of creation. When that passion grabs our hearts, it overflows into daily choices that let neighbors glimpse the splendor of the Lord.

Seeing the Whole Bible Echo the Same Theme

Matthew 5:16 — “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 — “whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”

1 Peter 2:9 — we “proclaim the virtues of Him who called” us.

2 Corinthians 3:18 — we “reflect the glory of the Lord” as we’re transformed.

Scripture repeatedly ties our everyday lives to God’s worldwide glory. The call is literal, personal, and possible by His Spirit.

Reflect His Glory with Our Words

• Speak truth seasoned with grace (Ephesians 4:29).

• Offer encouragement that lifts weary hearts (Hebrews 3:13).

• Share the gospel plainly and lovingly (Romans 1:16).

When conversations point people to the character of Christ, His glory surfaces in coffee shops, offices, and living rooms.

Reflect His Glory with Our Works

• Consistent integrity at work or school shows that God’s standards matter (Proverbs 11:3).

• Acts of generous service—meals delivered, yards mowed, rides given—display His self-giving love (Galatians 6:9-10).

• Volunteering in community projects highlights the Creator’s concern for human flourishing (Jeremiah 29:7).

Reflect His Glory through Worshipful Lifestyles

• Begin and end the day acknowledging His greatness (Psalm 92:1-2).

• Make family routines—mealtimes, commutes, chores—moments of gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

• Guard purity in entertainment choices, showing that Christ is more satisfying than fleeting thrills (Philippians 4:8).

Reflect His Glory by Living Differently

• Joy without complaining marks us as “lights in the world” (Philippians 2:14-16).

• Forgiving quickly mirrors the mercy we have received (Ephesians 4:32).

• Pursuing racial and socioeconomic unity in the church puts the gospel on display (Ephesians 2:14-16).

Reflect His Glory through Steadfast Hope

• In trials, confident trust signals that God is worthy of praise even in pain (Habakkuk 3:17-18).

• Peace amid uncertainty invites questions that open doors for testimony (1 Peter 3:15).

• Persevering through long-term caregiving, illness, or disappointment manifests His sustaining power (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

Putting It Into Practice This Week

1. Choose one everyday setting—workplace, school pickup line, gym—and intentionally speak life-giving words there.

2. Identify a tangible act of service for someone outside your usual circle.

3. Replace one hour of entertainment with Scripture reading and worship music, letting Isaiah 60:1 stir fresh zeal: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.”

4. Before bed, recount aloud one way you saw God display His glory that day, and thank Him.

As we heed Psalm 57:5 and live so that God is exalted “above the heavens,” His glory truly “covers all the earth”—starting with the sidewalks, break rooms, and front porches of our own community.

How does Psalm 57:5 connect with the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-10?
