How can we, like the healed man, visibly testify to God's power today? The Scene in Acts 4:14 “ And seeing the man who had been healed standing there with them, they had nothing to say in response.” The once-lame beggar isn’t preaching a sermon. He’s just standing—whole, joyful, undeniable. His very presence silences the opposition. Our world still needs living, breathing reminders that Jesus saves, heals, and restores. What Made the Healed Man’s Witness So Powerful • Visible change: everyone in Jerusalem knew him as the lame beggar (Acts 3:2). • Public setting: the miracle took place at the temple gate, in full view. • Bold alignment: he “clung to Peter and John” (Acts 3:11), identifying with the name of Jesus. • Consistent joy: he kept “walking and leaping and praising God” (Acts 3:8). Ways We Can Visibly Testify to God’s Power Today 1. Live the change people can see • Leave old sins behind (2 Corinthians 5:17). • Demonstrate restored relationships—apologies made, forgiveness granted. • Practice new habits of holiness that invite questions (1 Peter 4:3–4). 2. Stand with Jesus in public spaces • Unashamed use of His name when crediting blessings (Mark 8:38). • Carry a Bible, pray over meals, offer to pray for others—simple acts that open doors (Romans 1:16). 3. Share the personal story God wrote • “Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story” (Psalm 107:2). • Keep it current: how is Jesus working this week? • Short, honest, Christ-focused—like the blind man: “One thing I do know: I was blind and now I see” (John 9:25). 4. Serve where you once struggled • Former addicts guiding recovery groups; healed marriages mentoring newlyweds (2 Corinthians 1:4). • Your scars become signposts to God’s grace. 5. Overflow with joy and gratitude • Praise is contagious; it points eyes upward (Psalm 34:2–3). • Refuse grumbling; choose thanksgiving in trials (Philippians 2:14–16). 6. Practice conspicuous compassion • Good works “shine before men” so they glorify the Father (Matthew 5:16). • Meet practical needs—food, rides, babysitting—with gentle mention of Jesus’ love. 7. Stay faithful under pressure • The council threatened Peter and John, yet they kept speaking (Acts 4:18–20). • Patient endurance turns skeptics into observers of God’s power (1 Peter 2:12). Tools God Provides for Effective Witness • Holy Spirit boldness (Acts 4:31). • Scripture stored in the heart (Psalm 119:11). • The fellowship of believers for mutual support (Hebrews 10:24–25). • Spiritual gifts deployed for the common good (1 Peter 4:10). Living Proof Today The healed man’s silent stance preached louder than words. When our transformed lives, joyful gratitude, and courageous allegiance stand in plain sight, modern councils—classrooms, offices, neighborhoods—still “have nothing to say in response.” Let’s give them that kind of holy silence. |
