In what ways can we "multiply and grow very mighty" in faith today? Anchoring in God’s Promise “ So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied and became exceedingly mighty.” (Exodus 1:20) • God Himself is the source of multiplication and might. • The midwives’ reverence for the Lord (v. 17) positioned Israel for blessing; reverence still opens the door for growth today (Proverbs 9:10). Cultivating Personal Devotion • Daily Scripture intake—“But his delight is in the Law of the LORD… He is like a tree planted by streams of water” (Psalm 1:2-3). • Consistent prayer—“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) • Meditation and obedience—“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night… then you will make your way prosperous.” (Joshua 1:8) Living in Obedient Community • Faithful gathering—“Let us not neglect meeting together… but let us encourage one another.” (Hebrews 10:25) • Mutual edification—“Speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15) • Shared resources—The early believers “continued in fellowship… and the Lord added to their number daily.” (Acts 2:42-47) Engaging in Intentional Discipleship • Invest in a few—“And what you have heard from me… entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2) • Family discipleship—“These words… you shall teach them diligently to your children.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7) • Mentoring relationships mirror Jesus’ model with the Twelve (Mark 3:14). Witnessing with Word and Life • Evangelize boldly—“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19) • Model Christlike character—“Let your light shine before men.” (Matthew 5:16) • Spread the gospel’s aroma—“Your faith has become known everywhere.” (1 Thessalonians 1:8) Persevering through Opposition • Expect resistance—Israel multiplied under Pharaoh’s pressure; adversity often precedes expansion (James 1:2-4). • Stand firm—“Be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58) Walking in the Spirit’s Power • Abide in Christ—“The one who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit.” (John 15:5) • Display the fruit of the Spirit—“Love, joy, peace…” (Galatians 5:22-23) • Rely on spiritual gifts for mutual strengthening—“To each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” (1 Corinthians 12:7) When hearts revere God, lives abide in His Word, and communities live missionally, He still causes His people to “multiply and grow very mighty” in faith. |
