How can we trust God to part our seas?
How can we trust God to "part the sea" in our lives today?

Key Verse

“Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind all night and turned the seabed into dry land. So the waters were divided.” (Exodus 14:21)

Setting the Scene

• Israel has just left Egypt under God’s mighty hand.

• The Red Sea in front, Pharaoh’s army behind—no human escape route.

• God commands Moses to raise his staff; the Lord Himself parts the waters.

• What looked impossible became the very path to freedom.

What It Meant Then

• God proved He is sovereign over nature, nations, and every circumstance.

• Israel’s rescue was not gradual; it was sudden, complete, and miraculous.

• The pathway opened only when they stepped forward in obedience (Exodus 14:15-16).

• The same sea that saved God’s people destroyed their enemies (Exodus 14:27-28).

Why It Matters Now

• Life brings “seas” —health crises, financial pressures, broken relationships, sin’s bondage.

• The Lord who literally split the Red Sea has not changed (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8).

• His past acts are present promises: what He did, He can still do.

How to Trust God to Part the Sea Today

1. Remember His track record

Psalm 77:11-14—recount His wonders.

Revelation 12:11—overcome by “the word of their testimony.”

2. Stand firm on His Word

Exodus 14:13—“Do not be afraid. Stand firm…”

Isaiah 43:16—“Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea…”

3. Obey the next step He gives

• Israel moved forward before the waters moved aside (Exodus 14:15).

James 2:17—faith acts, not merely agrees.

4. Fix your eyes on His presence, not the problem

Exodus 14:19—the Angel of God moved behind them as a rear guard.

Psalm 16:8—“Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

5. Expect His timing, not yours

• “All night” the wind blew (Exodus 14:21).

Galatians 6:9—“at the proper time we will reap if we do not give up.”

Scriptures to Anchor Our Faith

Isaiah 41:10—“Do not fear, for I am with you.”

Luke 1:37—“Nothing will be impossible with God.”

1 Corinthians 10:1-4—God’s people “passed through the sea.”

Hebrews 11:29—“By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land.”

Putting Faith into Action

• Speak God’s promises aloud when fear rises.

• List past deliverances; thank Him for each one.

• Seek counsel and community that reinforce faith, not doubt (Proverbs 27:17).

• Take the obedient step He highlights—however small—and watch for the waters to move.
