How can you pursue righteousness now?
In what ways can you "pursue righteousness" in your current circumstances?

The Call to Pursue Righteousness

“But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” (1 Timothy 6:11)

Scripture paints “pursuing” as an ongoing chase—not a casual stroll. Paul says to Timothy, “run after it,” and elsewhere amplifies the theme: “Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness…” (2 Timothy 2:22). Wherever you find yourself today—office desk, classroom, living room, checkout line—the chase continues.

Understanding Righteousness

• Position: In Christ you are declared righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21).

• Practice: Daily choices align your conduct with that declaration (Philippians 1:11).

The second is our focus: choosing what is right because we belong to the One who made us right.

Practical Expressions in Daily Life

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and “all these things will be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

• Set digital boundaries.

• Identify triggers that pull you toward sin and reroute.

• Replace envy and worry with praise and trust.

Cultivating Godly Habits

• Daily Scripture—meditate day and night (Joshua 1:8).

• Constant prayer—“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

• Periodic fasting—sharpens focus on God.

• Regular worship—private and corporate.

Encouragement to Keep Running

“Let us run with endurance the race set out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…” (Hebrews 12:1–2)

• Progress may feel slow, but harvest comes: “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

A Life Worth Pursuing

Righteousness is not a finish line you cross once; it’s the daily roadway of obedience, fueled by the Spirit, guided by the Word, and witnessed by a watching world. Keep fleeing what hinders and keep chasing what honors Christ—right where you are, right now.
