How does Hebrews 10:21 boost our faith?
In what ways can Hebrews 10:21 encourage us in our daily faith walk?

Our Great High Priest: Jesus in Everyday Life

“and since we have a great priest over the house of God,” (Hebrews 10:21)

Immediate Encouragements in the Text

• Jesus is called “great”—His supremacy is settled.

• He is “priest”—the Mediator who faithfully represents us before the Father.

• He is “over the house of God”—so His care encompasses every believer.

Daily Confidence to Approach God

Hebrews 4:16: “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence.”

– Because Jesus presides as Priest, we can draw near without fear or hesitation.

Romans 5:1–2 reminds us that through Him “we have gained access by faith into this grace.”

– Access isn’t occasional; it’s a standing invitation for every moment of the day.

Assurance of Ongoing Advocacy

1 John 2:1: “We have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the Righteous One.”

– When failures surface, we rest in His present advocacy, not our fluctuating performance.

Hebrews 7:25: “He always lives to intercede for them.”

– Present tense intercession means today’s needs are already on His heart.

Security Inside God’s Household

• Jesus is “over the house,” not merely in it. Our spiritual home is under perfect supervision.

Ephesians 2:19: “You are… members of God’s household.”

– Family status gives stability; nothing in the day can evict us from His care (John 10:28–29).

Motivation for Daily Holiness

• Knowing the Priest’s presence sanctifies daily choices.

1 Peter 1:15–16 calls us to be holy because the One who called us is holy.

Hebrews 10:22 follows directly: “let us draw near… having our hearts sprinkled clean.”

– Holiness flows from proximity to Jesus, not from legalistic striving.

Boldness in Witness and Service

Acts 4:13 shows ordinary believers speaking boldly because they “had been with Jesus.”

– A vivid awareness of our Priest fuels courage to share the gospel and serve others.

2 Corinthians 3:12: “Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.”

– The certainty of His priestly oversight removes timidity.

Restful Perspective on Trials

Hebrews 2:17–18: Jesus is a merciful High Priest who “is able to help those who are being tempted.”

– Every trial enters under His supervision; He ministers grace tailored to each ache.

Romans 8:34: “Christ Jesus… is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”

– In hardship, we remember the courtroom of heaven is already favorable.

Living Response: Walk in Closeness

• Keep short accounts with sin—confess quickly, knowing forgiveness is secured (1 John 1:9).

• Cultivate a morning rhythm of entering the “Most Holy Place” by faith, thanking Jesus for His priesthood.

• Throughout the day, pause and mentally “draw near.” His role never pauses, so conversations with Him need not either.

How can we draw near to God, knowing Jesus is 'a great priest'?
