How does sharing God's works help us?
How can sharing God's works strengthen our faith and community?

Setting the Scene with Psalm 107:22

“Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare His works with joyful singing.”

What we see right away:

• God desires gratitude that costs us something—“sacrifices of thanksgiving.”

• He wants public proclamation—“declare His works.”

• He wants the tone—“joyful singing.”

These three elements become the framework for how sharing God’s works strengthens both faith and community.

Why Remembering and Speaking Builds Personal Faith

• Rehearsal deepens trust. Psalm 103:2 urges, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Every retelling moves blessings from memory into muscle memory.

• Testimony silences doubt. Revelation 12:11 shows believers “overcame…by the word of their testimony.” Speaking God’s past victories arms us for current battles.

• Praise redirects focus. Instead of rehearsing problems, we rehearse God’s power (Psalm 145:4-7). Faith rises as we magnify Him.

How Sharing Fuels Community Growth

• Testimonies knit hearts together. Common praise fosters uncommon unity (Acts 4:32-33).

• Stories spark hope in the weary. Hearing “God came through for you” ignites expectation that He will come through for me (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

• Public gratitude protects the group from grumbling. Thanksgiving crowds out the corrosive attitude of complaint (Philippians 2:14-16).

• Declarations invite outsiders. When His works are openly celebrated, people are drawn to the light (1 Peter 2:9).

Practical Ways to Declare His Works Today

• Begin gatherings with “God-sightings”—brief accounts of answered prayer.

• Weave testimony into meals: each person shares one recent mercy of the Lord.

• Incorporate Scripture-based songs that tell God’s deeds (Colossians 3:16).

• Use written media: blog posts, group texts, social platforms—short, God-honoring stories.

• Celebrate milestones—baptisms, healings, reconciliations—as community events, not private moments.

• Train children to recount what God has done, passing faith to the next generation (Psalm 78:4).

Guardrails for Authentic Testimony

• Keep it God-focused, not self-promoting—Psalm 115:1.

• Anchor every story in Scripture’s truth, preventing exaggeration.

• Honor confidentiality; share only what edifies (Ephesians 4:29).

• Accompany words with consistent living—1 John 3:18.

Encouragement to Keep Telling the Story

Psalm 71:15-18 models lifelong testimony: “My mouth will tell of Your righteousness… even when I am old and gray.” Until Christ returns, the church’s job description includes joyful, thankful declaration. Each time we speak of His works, faith is fortified, community is strengthened, and God receives the glory He deserves.

Why is it important to verbally express gratitude for God's works?
