How to aid others in spiritual struggles?
How can we support others facing "nets" and "traps" in their spiritual journey?

Key Verse: Psalm 25:15

“My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the net.”

Seeing the Snare

• “Net” and “trap” picture any device the enemy uses to tangle believers—temptation, false teaching, discouragement, unhealthy relationships, addictions, fear.

• Scripture warns that these snares are real (Psalm 124:7; 2 Timothy 2:26) yet assures us God rescues (Psalm 91:3).

Why Our Help Matters

• God uses His people as instruments of deliverance (Galatians 6:1-2).

• Mutual care fulfills “the law of Christ” and keeps the body healthy (1 Corinthians 12:26).

How to Come Alongside Believers in Nets and Traps

1. Refocus the Eyes

– Gently point to the Lord, not merely the problem (Psalm 25:15).

– Share Scripture that lifts vision upward (Colossians 3:1-2).

2. Restore with Humility

– “Restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness” (Galatians 6:1).

– Check our own hearts first so we don’t fall into pride or the same snare.

3. Shoulder the Weight

– “Carry one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).

– Tangible help: accountability calls, rides to fellowship, budgeting help, prayerful texts.

4. Speak Truth in Love

– Lovingly expose lies that tighten the net (Ephesians 4:15).

– Use the sword of the Spirit, not harsh words (Hebrews 4:12).

5. Encourage Perseverance

– Remind them that no temptation is unique or unbeatable (1 Corinthians 10:13).

– Celebrate small victories; God often frees one strand at a time.

6. Uphold in Intercession

– Persistent prayer invites divine intervention (2 Corinthians 1:11; James 5:16).

– Pray aloud with them when possible; it strengthens faith.

7. Create Safe Community

– Regular fellowship prevents isolation where traps flourish (Hebrews 10:24-25).

– Model transparency; freedom breeds freedom.

Promises to Anchor Every Effort

• “The LORD rescues the godly” (Psalm 34:17).

• “The snare is broken, and we have escaped” (Psalm 124:7).

• “He is faithful to guard you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

• “He who began a good work in you will complete it” (Philippians 1:6).

Living It Out Together

• Keep eyes on the Deliverer, hands ready to lift others.

• Walk closely enough to notice the first tug of a net.

• Trust that every rescue story magnifies the Lord who “will free my feet from the net.”

In what ways can prayer help us overcome the 'traps' mentioned in Psalm 140:5?
