What steps can we take to align our lives with God's will today? Living in a World God Has Evaluated “Then God said to Noah, ‘The end of all living creatures has come before Me, because through them the earth is full of violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth.’” (Genesis 6:13) Sin and violence still fill today’s world; God’s judgment of Noah’s day proves He takes wickedness seriously. Scripture records a literal, global Flood—assurance that God’s warnings are never empty words (Hebrews 11:7). Step 1 – Take God at His Word Believe every line of Scripture as true and binding. Treat divine warnings as present-day realities, not distant myths (2 Peter 3:3-7). Read the Bible daily, asking, “What has God already said that I need to obey?” (Psalm 119:105). Step 2 – Confront Personal Sin Quickly Noah lived “righteous and blameless in his generation” (Genesis 6:9). • Regular self-examination (Psalm 139:23-24). • Immediate confession and repentance (1 John 1:9). Replace hidden compromises with open holiness (Ephesians 5:8-11). Step 3 – Obey Precisely, Not Approximately Noah followed God’s exact blueprint (Genesis 6:22). • Adopt a “whatever You say, Lord” attitude. • Refuse partial compliance; delayed obedience is disobedience. Ask, “Is there any clear command I have postponed?” (James 1:22-25). Step 4 – Build Your ‘Ark’ of Daily Disciplines Scripture intake: reading, memorizing, meditating (Joshua 1:8). Prayer: unhurried conversation with God (Colossians 4:2). Fellowship: gathering with believers for encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25). Service: using gifts to edify Christ’s body (1 Peter 4:10). Step 5 – Stay Distinct in a Corrupt Culture “Do not be conformed to this world” (Romans 12:2). Establish boundaries on media, relationships, and entertainment. Shine “as lights in the world” without blending into its darkness (Philippians 2:15). Step 6 – Proclaim Truth Boldly Noah was “a herald of righteousness” (2 Peter 2:5). Share the gospel even when culture mocks coming judgment (Matthew 24:37-39). Live so that your conduct backs your message (1 Peter 2:12). Step 7 – Rest in God’s Covenant Faithfulness God preserved Noah; He keeps every promise to us in Christ (Genesis 9:11 – 13; 2 Corinthians 1:20). Trust the finished work of Jesus, the ultimate Ark of salvation (1 Peter 3:20-22). Following these steps, our lives align with the will of the same unchanging God who spoke in Genesis 6:13 and still speaks through His Word today. |
