How can we be bold in sharing our faith like the women in Luke 24:9? The Scene: Luke 24:9 “And when they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the others.” What Made Their Boldness Remarkable • They spoke though women’s testimony was often discounted in that culture (Luke 24:11). • They acted immediately—no strategizing, no waiting for permission. • They addressed “the eleven and all the others,” stepping straight into the center of leadership. • Their news contradicted the visible evidence of a sealed tomb just hours earlier; they risked ridicule. Where Their Courage Came From • They had encountered undeniable truth—an empty tomb and angelic proclamation (Luke 24:2–8). • They remembered Jesus’ own words: “The Son of Man must be delivered… and rise on the third day” (v. 7). • Fear was eclipsed by joy and urgency (cf. Matthew 28:8). • The authority of the message rested on God, not on their social standing. Principles for Us Today • Believe the resurrection as historical fact; conviction fuels courage. • Move quickly when the Spirit prompts—delay breeds timidity. • Speak to whoever is in front of you; boldness is shown, not stored. • Expect skepticism but rely on the power of the gospel, not on personal eloquence. • Remember that obedience is success; results belong to God. Scriptural Fuel for Bold Witness • Romans 1:16 — “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” • 2 Timothy 1:7 — “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” • Acts 4:20 — “For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” • 1 Peter 3:15 — “Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you, but respond with gentleness and respect.” Practicing Boldness • Start the day affirming the reality of the empty tomb. • Share one resurrection truth in ordinary conversation—on a walk, over coffee, in a text. • Memorize at least one “fuel verse” above; let Scripture speak through you. • Celebrate every act of obedience, however small; boldness grows by use. |
