How to honor God daily?
What actions can you take to exalt God's name in daily life?

Setting the Scene—Psalm 138:2

“I will bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your loving devotion and Your faithfulness; You have exalted Your name and Your word above all else.”

Love What He Loves

• God has already exalted His own name and His word “above all else.” Our daily goal is to echo that priority.

• When you elevate Scripture—reading it, memorizing it, filtering decisions through it—you’re exalting the Author’s name (Psalm 1:2; John 14:21).

• Practical steps:

– Schedule an unhurried, non-negotiable slot for Bible reading.

– Replace background noise with an audio Bible while commuting.

– Text or post a verse rather than a random meme.

Bow the Heart and Body

• David “bowed down toward Your holy temple.” Body language matters.

• Take literal moments to kneel during private prayer (Ephesians 3:14). It reminds your soul who is Lord.

• At church, sing aloud even if you’re off-key; visible reverence invites others to honor Him too (Psalm 95:6).

Give Thanks Out Loud

• “Give thanks to Your name” appears next to “bow down.” Gratitude is worship in motion.

• Keep a running list—paper or phone—of daily mercies. Speak them before meals or bedtime (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

• Express thanks publicly when God answers prayer; it shifts conversations from self to Savior (Luke 17:15-16).

Guard Your Speech

• To exalt His name, refuse to misuse it (Exodus 20:7).

• Replace casual “Oh my God” expressions with intentional praise: “Lord, thank You,” “God is good.”

• Speak words that match His character—truthful, gracious, pure (Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 4:6).

Let Obedience Make the Point

• Jesus tied love to obedience (John 14:15). Doing what He says showcases the worth of His name more than any slogan.

• Evaluate major decisions—finance, relationships, entertainment—under 1 Corinthians 10:31: “whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”

• When obedience is costly, explain your choice gently; it turns heads upward (1 Peter 3:15-16).

Display Covenant Faithfulness

• David celebrated God’s “loving devotion and faithfulness.” Mirror that loyalty in your commitments.

• Keep promises to spouse, children, coworkers. Reliability points to a faithful God (Matthew 5:37).

• Show up for church, small group, service projects consistently. Faithfulness magnifies His name over time.

Live as a Mobile Temple

• Under the new covenant, believers are God’s dwelling (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

• Honor His ownership:

– Steward the body—rest, purity, sobriety.

– Guard the mind—scripture meditation over scrolling.

– Pursue holiness—“Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).

Shine His Fame to Others

• “Let them see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

• Simple avenues: share a meal, lend a tool, volunteer, tip generously. Then credit Christ, not luck.

• Engage in gospel conversations; proclaiming the good news is the ultimate way to exalt His name (Acts 4:12).

Keep the Spotlight on Him

• From daily habits to life-altering choices, aim for one outcome: that Jesus’ name be lifted higher (Philippians 2:9-11).

• Whenever recognition comes your way, redirect it: “The Lord enabled this,” “Praise God for the opportunity.”

• A life patterned after Psalm 138:2 grows into an arrow, unambiguously pointing upward to the One who has already exalted His name and His word above all else.
