How to offer our lives to God today?
How can we offer our lives as a "gift" to God today?

Scripture Focus: Romans 12:1

“Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”

Understanding the Call

• God’s mercy is the motivation; our response is an ongoing, conscious presentation of ourselves.

• A “living sacrifice” is active, continual, and voluntary—far more than a moment of decision.

• Offering our lives as a gift is described as “your spiritual service of worship,” showing that worship extends well beyond songs or gatherings into every arena of life.

What a Gifted Life Looks Like Today

• Whole-hearted devotion: God receives not pieces of our schedule but the entirety of who we are (Colossians 3:17).

• Holiness: Setting ourselves apart from sin and for God’s purposes (1 Peter 1:15-16).

• Pleasing to God: Living in a way that brings Him delight, not merely human approval (Galatians 1:10).

• Continuous worship: The ordinary—study, work, meals, rest—becomes sacred when offered back to the Lord (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Practical Ways to Present Yourself Today

• Morning consecration: Begin each day affirming, “Lord, this day is Yours—use me as You will.”

• Mind renewal: Shape thoughts through Scripture intake, replacing the world’s patterns with God’s (Romans 12:2).

• Steward the body: Care for health, purity, and energy; abstain from anything that defiles God’s temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

• Serve actively: Look for tangible needs, then meet them—at home, church, work, neighborhood (1 Peter 4:10).

• Speak life: Use words to build up, bless, and witness (Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 4:6).

• Sacrificial generosity: Time, talents, and finances placed at God’s disposal (2 Corinthians 9:7).

• Obedient promptings: When the Spirit nudges—call, give, forgive—respond immediately (John 14:21).

Cultivating a Heart of Surrender

• Remember the gospel daily; His gift of salvation inspires ours in return (2 Corinthians 5:14-15).

• Practice gratitude; thanking God softens the heart toward further yielding (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

• Confess quickly; unconfessed sin hinders fellowship and usefulness (1 John 1:9).

• Keep eternity in view; present sacrifices store eternal treasure (Matthew 6:19-21).

Encouragement from Other Scriptures

Hebrews 13:15-16 — “Through Jesus, then, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise… And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

1 Peter 2:5 — “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

Galatians 2:20 — “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me…”

Living It Out

Offering your life as a gift to God today means consciously placing every thought, action, and ambition on His altar. It is a joyful exchange: His mercy for your worship, His glory for your surrender, His power for your availability. Each new day is another opportunity to declare, by word and deed, “Lord, my life is Yours.”
