How to show God's love in community?
In what ways can we demonstrate love for God in our community?

Setting the Foundation

“ ‘This is the first and greatest commandment.’ ” (Matthew 22:38)

Whole-Hearted Love Defined

• Heart – undivided affection shown in worship (Deuteronomy 6:5)

• Soul – total identity surrendered to Him (Romans 12:1)

• Mind – thoughts shaped by His Word (Psalm 1:2)

Living It Out in the Community

• Public Worship and Praise

– Prioritize gathered, God-centered worship; let praise spill into everyday conversation (Hebrews 13:15; Psalm 34:3).

• Glad Obedience

– Align decisions with Scripture; “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments” (John 14:15).

• Consistent Integrity

– Speak truth, keep promises, practice fairness (Proverbs 11:3; Colossians 3:17).

• Compassionate Service

– Meet practical needs of the vulnerable: food drives, visitation, mentoring (James 1:27; 1 John 3:17-18).

• Generous Sharing

– View resources as God’s; budget for giving, open homes for fellowship (2 Corinthians 9:7; Hebrews 13:16).

• Visible Good Works

– Volunteer locally; let deeds point neighbors to Christ (Matthew 5:16; Galatians 6:10).

• Gospel Proclamation

– Naturally speak of Christ’s saving work; distribute Bibles, support missions (Romans 1:16; Acts 1:8).

• Prayerful Advocacy

– Intercede for leaders, schools, and crises; rely on God’s power for change (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

• Pursuit of Biblical Justice

– Stand against oppression while calling sinners to repentance (Micah 6:8; Proverbs 31:8-9).

• Loving One Another

– Model sacrificial, forgiving relationships within the church; “whoever loves God must love his brother as well” (1 John 4:21).

The Result

A community that sees tangible, joyful obedience to the “first and greatest commandment” is drawn to the God we love and serve.
