How to use "overlapping" in spirituality?
How can we apply the concept of "overlapping" in our spiritual lives today?

Opening Verse

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

What “Overlapping” Means for Believers

When two circles overlap, they share common space. Scripture teaches that the circle of Christ’s lordship is meant to cover every area of life, so that our everyday tasks and our spiritual devotion occupy the same shared space. There is no “church life” versus “real life.” Everything we do overlaps with Christ.

Why the Overlap Matters

• Christ owns every square inch of creation (Colossians 1:16–17).

• Our bodies are “temples of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19).

• We are commanded to “whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

If everything belongs to Him, then nothing is outside His influence—or outside our obedience.

Practical Ways to Live the Overlap

Daily Tasks

• Work: Approach each assignment as service rendered to Christ (Ephesians 6:7).

• Housework: Offer chores as a “living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1).

• Finances: Budget in prayerful dependence, acknowledging the Lord as provider (Proverbs 3:9–10).

Relationships

• Family: Model Christ’s love and forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32).

• Neighbors: Let your light “shine before men” so they see Christ in normal interactions (Matthew 5:16).

• Online Presence: Post and comment as an ambassador of the King (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Mind & Heart

• Thought Life: Take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

• Entertainment Choices: Choose what aligns with Philippians 4:8.

• Gratitude: Maintain a thankful posture in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Spiritual Disciplines Integrated

• Scripture: Keep a verse card at your workstation; let truth shape decisions in real time.

• Prayer: Fire brief prayers during meetings, commutes, or conversations (Nehemiah 2:4).

• Worship: Sing or meditate on hymns while exercising or driving (Psalm 34:1).

Benefits of an Overlapping Life

• Continuity: No compartmentalized guilt; the same standards apply everywhere.

• Integrity: People see an undivided witness, strengthening your testimony (Titus 2:10).

• Joy: Abiding in Christ produces lasting fruit (John 15:4–5).

• Guidance: God’s Word becomes the default lens for every decision (Psalm 119:105).

Encouragement to Keep Overlapping

Galatians 2:20 reminds us, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” The more we allow our circle to merge with His, the more His life flows through ours. Keep inviting the Lord into each moment, and watch the overlap grow until “Christ is all, and in all” (Colossians 3:11).
