Recognize & honor sacred daily moments?
How can we discern and respect holy moments in our daily lives?

Encounter With the Commander

“The Commander of the LORD’s army replied, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.’ And Joshua did so.” (Joshua 5:15)

Joshua’s first steps in the land of promise begin with sandaled feet on soil God calls holy. Victory will come later; reverent surrender must come first.

Recognizing Sacred Ground in Our Day-to-Day

• Moments when Scripture grips the heart – Luke 24:32

• Quiet conviction from the Spirit – John 16:8

• Awe before God’s creation – Psalm 19:1

• Providential meetings or timely answers to prayer – Genesis 28:16

• The gathered worship of God’s people – Matthew 18:20

Responding With Reverence

• Remove “sandals” of self-reliance—admit His supremacy.

• Bow in immediate obedience—1 Samuel 15:22.

• Practice stillness—“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

• Guard speech and attitude; treat the moment as weighty—Ecclesiastes 5:2.

Habits That Heighten Our Sensitivity

• Daily, unhurried Bible intake (Psalm 119:105).

• Ongoing confession—keeping consciences clear (1 John 1:9).

• Listening prayer, not merely talking prayer (1 Kings 19:12-13).

• Walking in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25).

• Choosing environments that foster attentiveness (Philippians 4:8).

Staying Alert on “Ordinary” Ground

• View every task through Colossians 3:17 and 1 Corinthians 10:31.

• Expect God to interrupt routines; readiness invites revelation.

• Remember Joshua in a military setting—holiness can break into workplaces, kitchens, car rides.

From Moments to Lifestyle

• Abide continually—“Remain in Me, and I will remain in you.” (John 15:4)

• Let each holy encounter reshape future decisions; carry forward the humility learned barefoot before God.

• Mark God’s interventions—journaling, sharing testimonies, building “memorial stones” (Joshua 4:7).

• Live the awareness that every square inch a believer steps on belongs to the King; holy moments are never far away.
