How can we recognize and respond to God's provision in our lives today? Text in Focus: Judges 15:19 “So God split the hollow place in Lehi, and water came out of it. When Samson drank, his strength returned, and he revived. Therefore he called its name En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.” Seeing Provision in Hard Places - Samson is exhausted, parched, and alone—yet God supplies exactly what he needs. - Provision appears from an unlikely source: water flowing out of split rock in a dry landscape. - The place is renamed “En-hakkore” (“spring of the caller”), reminding Israel that the Lord answers when His people cry out. Recognizing God’s Provision Today - Notice timing: God often steps in when our resources are spent (2 Corinthians 12:9). - Look for the unexpected: answers may spring from places that look barren (Isaiah 43:19). - Pay attention to the ordinary: daily bread, steady employment, loyal friends are just as much God’s hand as dramatic miracles (Matthew 6:11). - Remember past rescues: keeping a record trains the heart to see new mercies (Lamentations 3:22-23). - Discern spiritual refreshment: Scripture, worship, and fellowship revive the soul just as water revived Samson (Psalm 19:7). Responding to His Provision • Drink deeply—receive what He gives without hesitation. • Acknowledge the Source—name the spring, so to speak, by openly attributing the gift to God (1 Chron 29:13). • Worship—gratitude guards us from entitlement (Psalm 103:2). • Steward well—use the strength He supplies to fulfill the calling He has placed on you (Ephesians 2:10). • Testify—share the story so others learn where to turn when they’re dry (Revelation 12:11). Scripture Echoes - Exodus 17:6—water from the rock for Israel foreshadows God’s faithfulness at Lehi. - Psalm 23:1-2—“He leads me beside quiet waters”; the Shepherd provides rest. - Isaiah 58:11—“You will be like a well-watered garden.” - Matthew 6:31-33—seek first His kingdom; provision follows. - Philippians 4:19—“My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.” - John 4:14—Jesus offers living water, the ultimate provision. Living It Out When dryness hits, call on Him. Expect provision, even from surprising places. Receive it with gratitude, put it to work in faithful service, and mark the moment so future droughts find you confident in the God who still splits rocks and sends water. |
