Relate 2 Chr 32:18 & Eph 6:11. How?
Compare 2 Chronicles 32:18 with Ephesians 6:11. How do they relate?

Setting the scene

2 Chronicles 32 records Assyria’s siege of Jerusalem under King Hezekiah.

Ephesians 6 addresses believers in every age, urging readiness for unseen spiritual battle.

The enemy’s tactics in 2 Chronicles 32:18

• “Then the servants called out loudly in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem on the wall to frighten and terrify them, in order to capture the city.”

• Psychological warfare: speaking the people’s language to sow fear.

• Intimidation meant to break confidence in God and in their king (see vv. 15–17).

• Behind human voices stood a darker spiritual intent—opposition to the Lord’s purposes (cf. Isaiah 37:23).

Standing firm with the armor in Ephesians 6:11

• “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

• The battle is spiritual; the adversary strategizes (“schemes”) much like Assyria did.

• God supplies defensive and offensive equipment—truth, righteousness, gospel readiness, faith, salvation, Word, prayer (vv. 14–18).

• Purpose: to “stand,” not cower or capitulate.

Connecting the two passages

• Same goal of the enemy: derail trust in God through fear and deception.

– Assyria: “to frighten and terrify” (2 Chronicles 32:18).

– Satan: “schemes” (Ephesians 6:11) meant to unsettle faith (cf. 1 Peter 5:8).

• Same divine answer: steadfast confidence in the Lord.

– Hezekiah encouraged, “Be strong and courageous…with us is the LORD our God to help us” (2 Chronicles 32:7–8).

– Paul urges armor that is God’s own provision, not human strength (Ephesians 6:10).

• Both scenes show victory belongs to those who rely on God, not on themselves.

2 Chronicles 32:21: the LORD sent an angel, and Assyria retreated.

Ephesians 6:13: having done all, believers still stand.

Timeless lessons

• Expect intimidation—whether audible taunts or inner thoughts—that questions God’s power and promises.

• Recognize the real battle is spiritual; people or circumstances are often front-line puppets.

• Counter fear with God’s truth: 2 Timothy 1:7; Psalm 27:1.

• Daily “put on” the armor by embracing each piece in faith and obedience.

• Victory is assured when the LORD fights for His people; our role is to stand in Him (Romans 8:37).
