But Israel will be saved by the LORD

Yahweh alone delivers His covenant people, proving Himself faithful despite Israel’s sin, exile, and weakness. The immediate setting anticipates deliverance from Babylon through Cyrus, whom God appointed for His purposes. Yet Israel’s restoration from exile did not exhaust the promise, for God’s saving purpose reaches its fullness in the Messiah. Jesus Christ provides the redemption no earthly ruler could secure, delivering His people from sin and bringing them into fellowship with God. Isaiah’s declaration accords with God’s testimony that there is no Savior besides Him (Isaiah 43:11; Hosea 13:4).

with an everlasting salvation;

Israel’s earlier rescues from enemies and exile were real acts of divine mercy, but they did not remove death, sin, or the need for further deliverance. God promises a salvation that endures beyond every changing kingdom and generation. The New Covenant provides this lasting redemption through the blood of Christ, who obtained eternal redemption for all who belong to Him (Jeremiah 31:31–34; Hebrews 9:12). God’s final restoration of Israel will display the permanence of His covenant faithfulness.

you will not be put to shame or humiliated,

Exile had exposed Israel to reproach among the nations and revealed the consequences of rebellion against God. The Lord will reverse that disgrace by openly vindicating His people and fulfilling His promises before the world. Those who trust in the Lord will not ultimately be disappointed, a truth Paul applies to all who believe in Christ (Romans 10:11).

God’s purpose for Israel extends beyond temporary political recovery or national prosperity. His promised future is secure because it rests upon His own character and power. The final removal of shame, sorrow, and suffering belongs to the coming renewal of all things, when God dwells with His redeemed people forever (Revelation 21:1–4).
