Definition and Context
Approval in Christ refers to the state of being accepted and validated by God through faith in Jesus Christ. This concept is rooted in the understanding that human efforts alone cannot achieve divine approval; rather, it is through the grace of God and the redemptive work of Christ that believers are deemed righteous and acceptable before God.

Biblical Foundation
The New Testament provides a robust framework for understanding approval in Christ. The Apostle Paul, in his epistles, frequently addresses the theme of divine approval through faith. In Romans 5:1-2 , Paul writes, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand." This passage underscores the idea that approval is granted through faith and the grace of God, not by human merit.

Faith and Righteousness
Approval in Christ is intrinsically linked to the concept of righteousness. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 , Paul states, "God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." This verse highlights the substitutionary atonement of Christ, where believers are imputed with His righteousness, thus gaining approval before God.

Living to Please God
While approval in Christ is granted through faith, it also calls believers to live lives that are pleasing to God. In 1 Thessalonians 4:1 , Paul exhorts, "Finally, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God, just as you have received from us." This indicates that while approval is not based on works, a life of obedience and holiness is a natural response to the grace received.

Transformation and Renewal
The approval in Christ also involves a transformation of the believer's life. Romans 12:2 instructs, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God." This transformation is evidence of the believer's approval in Christ, as they seek to align their lives with God's will.

Assurance of Approval
Believers can have assurance of their approval in Christ, as it is based on the unchanging nature of God's promises. In Ephesians 1:13-14 , Paul writes, "And in Him, having heard and believed the word of truth—the gospel of your salvation—you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory." The sealing of the Holy Spirit serves as a guarantee of the believer's approval and future inheritance.

Conclusion
The concept of approval in Christ is central to the Christian faith, emphasizing the grace of God and the transformative power of the gospel. Through faith in Jesus Christ, believers are justified, made righteous, and called to live lives that reflect their divine approval.
