The term "constructed" in the context of the Bible often refers to the act of building or assembling something according to a specific plan or divine instruction. This concept is prevalent throughout the Scriptures, highlighting both physical and spiritual constructions that align with God's purposes.

Old Testament Constructions

1. The Ark of Noah: One of the earliest examples of construction in the Bible is Noah's Ark. God provided Noah with detailed instructions on how to construct the Ark to preserve life during the Flood. Genesis 6:14-16 states, "Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark and coat it with pitch inside and out. And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high."

2. The Tabernacle: The construction of the Tabernacle was a significant event for the Israelites, serving as a portable dwelling place for God among His people. Exodus 25:8-9 records God's command, "And they are to make a sanctuary for Me, so that I may dwell among them. You must make it according to all that I will show you—the pattern of the tabernacle as well as the pattern of all its furnishings."

3. Solomon's Temple: King Solomon constructed the First Temple in Jerusalem, a permanent place of worship for the Israelites. This construction was a fulfillment of God's promise to David. 1 Kings 6:1 notes, "In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the house of the LORD."

New Testament Constructions

1. The Church: In the New Testament, the concept of construction shifts from physical buildings to the spiritual building of the Church. Jesus Christ is described as the cornerstone of this spiritual edifice. Ephesians 2:19-22 explains, "Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord."

2. The Body of Christ: The Apostle Paul frequently uses the metaphor of construction to describe the growth and edification of the Body of Christ. In 1 Corinthians 3:9-11 , Paul writes, "For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds. For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Symbolic and Prophetic Constructions

1. The New Jerusalem: The Book of Revelation describes the construction of the New Jerusalem, a symbolic representation of God's eternal dwelling with His people. Revelation 21:2 states, "I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."

2. The Tower of Babel: Although not constructed according to God's will, the Tower of Babel represents human ambition and the desire to construct a name for oneself apart from God. Genesis 11:4 recounts, "And they said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of all the earth.'"

Throughout the Bible, the act of construction is often associated with obedience to divine instructions, the establishment of worship, and the spiritual growth of God's people. Whether through physical structures or spiritual edifices, construction serves as a testament to God's presence and purpose among His people.
