The term "dominant" is not explicitly found in the Bible; however, the concept of dominance is woven throughout the Scriptures in various contexts, including God's sovereignty, human authority, and spiritual warfare. In a biblical sense, dominance often relates to the exercise of authority and power, whether by God, individuals, or spiritual entities.

God's Sovereignty and Dominance

The Bible frequently emphasizes God's ultimate authority and control over creation. His dominance is evident in His role as Creator and Sustainer of the universe. In Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth," we see the foundational assertion of God's supreme power. His sovereignty is further highlighted in passages like Psalm 103:19, "The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all."

God's dominance is also reflected in His ability to direct the affairs of nations and individuals. Proverbs 21:1 states, "The king’s heart is a waterway in the hand of the LORD; He directs it where He pleases." This verse underscores the belief that even the most powerful human rulers are subject to God's will.

Human Authority and Dominance

The Bible also addresses the concept of human dominance, particularly in the context of stewardship and leadership. In Genesis 1:28, God commands Adam and Eve, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth." This mandate establishes humanity's role in exercising dominion over creation, reflecting God's image through responsible stewardship.

In the New Testament, the concept of leadership and authority is further developed. Jesus teaches His disciples about servant leadership, contrasting worldly dominance with godly leadership. In Matthew 20:25-28, Jesus says, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Spiritual Warfare and Dominance

The Bible also speaks of spiritual dominance, particularly in the context of spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:12 highlights the struggle against spiritual forces: "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." This passage acknowledges the existence of spiritual entities that exert influence and dominance in the world.

Believers are called to stand firm against these forces through the power of God. Ephesians 6:10-11 encourages Christians to "be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes." This spiritual armor enables believers to resist and overcome the dominance of evil.

Christ's Ultimate Dominance

The ultimate expression of dominance in the Bible is found in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, Christ triumphed over sin, death, and the powers of darkness. Colossians 2:15 declares, "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

Christ's return is anticipated as the final establishment of His dominance over all creation. Revelation 19:16 proclaims, "On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." This title affirms Christ's supreme authority and the ultimate fulfillment of God's kingdom.
