Teachings about Divorce
(Mark 10:1–12)

1And it came to pass that, when Jesus finished these words, He departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judaea, beyond the Jordan. 2And large multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there.

3And the Pharisees came to Him, tempting Him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause" 4And He, answering, said, "Did you not read that He Who made them from the beginning made them 'male and female,' 5and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh?" 6so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What, therefore, God joined together, let not man put asunder." 7They say to Him, "Why, then, did Moses command to give her a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?" 8He saith to them, "Moses, in view of the hardness of your heart, permitted you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it has not been so. 9And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery."

10The disciples say to Him, "If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry." 11But He said to them, "Not all can receive this saying, but those to whom it has been given; 12for there are eunuchs who were so born from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it."

Jesus Blesses the Children
(Mark 10:13–16; Luke 18:15–17)

13Then were brought to Him little children, that He might put His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. 14But Jesus said, "Permit the little children?and do not forbid them?to come to Me; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." 15And, having laid His hands on them, He departed thence.

The Rich Young Man
(Mark 10:17–31; Luke 18:18–30)

16And, behold, one, having come near, said to Him, "Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" 17And He said to him, "Why do you question Me concerning the good? One is the Good. But, if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." 18He says to Him, "Which?" And Jesus said, "You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; 19honor your father and your mother; and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself." 20The young man says to Him, "I observed all these things; what yet do I lack?" 21Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me." 22But the young man, having heard this saying, went away grieved; for he was one who had large possessions.

23And Jesus said to His disciples, "Verily I say to you, that with difficulty shall a rich man enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. 24And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God." 25And the disciples, having heard it, were amazed exceedingly, saying, "Who, then, can be saved? " 26But Jesus, looking on them, said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

27Then Peter, answering, said to Him, "Behold, we left all, and followed Thee; what, then, shall we have?" 28And Jesus said to them, "Verily I say to you, that ye who followed Me, in the regeneration, when the Son of Man shall sit upon the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29And every one who left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive manifold more and shall inherit eternal life. 30But many that are first shall be last, and last first."
