Jeremiah’s Message to Baruch

1  הַדָּבָ֗ר (The word) אֲשֶׁ֤ר (that) דִּבֶּר֙ (spoke) יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ (Jeremiah) הַנָּבִ֔יא (the prophet) אֶל־ (to) בָּר֖וּךְ (Baruch) בֶּֽן־ (son) נֵֽרִיָּ֑ה (of Neriah), בְּכָתְבוֹ֩ (in his writing) אֶת־ (-) הַדְּבָרִ֨ים (the words) הָאֵ֤לֶּה (these) עַל־ (upon) סֵ֙פֶר֙ (a scroll) מִפִּ֣י (from the mouth) יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ (of Jeremiah), בַּשָּׁנָה֙ (in the year) הָֽרְבִעִ֔ית (fourth) לִיהוֹיָקִ֧ים (of Jehoiakim) בֶּן־ (son) יֹאשִׁיָּ֛הוּ (of Josiah) מֶ֥לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah), לֵאמֹֽר׃ס (saying):

2  כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), אֱלֹהֵ֣י (the God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel), עָלֶ֖יךָ (to you) בָּרֽוּךְ׃ (O Baruch); 3  אָמַ֙רְתָּ֙ (You have said), אֽוֹי־ (Woe) נָ֣א (now)! לִ֔י (To me) כִּֽי־ (for) יָסַ֧ף (has added) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) יָג֖וֹן (sorrow) עַל־ (to) מַכְאֹבִ֑י (my pain); יָגַ֙עְתִּי֙ (I grow weary) בְּאַנְחָתִ֔י (in my sighing), וּמְנוּחָ֖ה (and rest). לֹ֥א (Not) מָצָֽאתִי׃ס (do I find).

4  כֹּ֣ה׀ (Thus) תֹּאמַ֣ר (you will say) אֵלָ֗יו (to him) כֹּ֚ה (Thus); אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) הִנֵּ֤ה (behold), אֲשֶׁר־ (what) בָּנִ֙יתִי֙ (I have built) אֲנִ֣י (I) הֹרֵ֔ס (am breaking down), וְאֵ֥ת (and) אֲשֶׁר־ (what) נָטַ֖עְתִּי (I have planted) אֲנִ֣י (I) נֹתֵ֑שׁ (am plucking up), וְאֶת־ (even) כָּל־ (all) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the land) הִֽיא׃ (itself). 5  וְאַתָּ֛ה (And do you) תְּבַקֶּשׁ־ (seek) לְךָ֥ (for yourself) גְדֹל֖וֹת (great things) אַל־ (not); תְּבַקֵּ֑שׁ (should you seek them) כִּ֡י (for), הִנְנִי֩ (behold, I) מֵבִ֨יא (am going to bring) רָעָ֤ה (disaster) עַל־ (upon) כָּל־ (all) בָּשָׂר֙ (flesh), נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) וְנָתַתִּ֨י (and I will give) לְךָ֤ (to you) אֶֽת־ (-) נַפְשְׁךָ֙ (your soul) לְשָׁלָ֔ל (as a prize) עַ֥ל (in) כָּל־ (all) הַמְּקֹמ֖וֹת (the places) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (to which) תֵּֽלֶךְ־ (you go) שָֽׁם׃ס (there).
