A Psalm of Exodus

בְּצֵ֣את (In the going forth of) יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל (Israel) מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם (from Egypt),

בֵּ֥ית (the house) יַ֝עֲקֹ֗ב (of Jacob) מֵעַ֥ם (from a people) לֹעֵֽז׃ (speaking strangely),

2  הָיְתָ֣ה (became) יְהוּדָ֣ה (Judah) לְקָדְשׁ֑וֹ (His sanctuary),

יִ֝שְׂרָאֵ֗ל (Israel) מַמְשְׁלוֹתָֽיו׃ (His dominion).

3  הַיָּ֣ם (The sea) רָ֭אָה (saw Him) וַיָּנֹ֑ס (and fled);

הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן (the Jordan) יִסֹּ֥ב (turned) לְאָחֽוֹר׃ (to the back).

4  הֶֽ֭הָרִים (The mountains) רָקְד֣וּ (skipped) כְאֵילִ֑ים (like rams),

גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת (the hills) כִּבְנֵי־ (like sons) צֹֽאן׃ (of the flock).

5  מַה־ (What was it) לְּךָ֣ (to you), הַ֭יָּם (O sea), כִּ֣י (that) תָנ֑וּס (you fled),

הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן (O Jordan), תִּסֹּ֥ב (that you turned) לְאָחֽוֹר׃ (to the back),

6  הֶֽ֭הָרִים (O mountains), תִּרְקְד֣וּ (that you⁺ skipped) כְאֵילִ֑ים (like rams),

גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת (O hills), כִּבְנֵי־ (like sons) צֹֽאן׃ (of the flock)?

7  מִלִּפְנֵ֣י (Before the face) אָ֭דוֹן (of the Lord) ח֣וּלִי (writhe), אָ֑רֶץ (O earth),

מִ֝לִּפְנֵ֗י (from before the face) אֱל֣וֹהַּ (of the God) יַעֲקֹֽב׃ (of Jacob);

8  הַהֹפְכִ֣י (turning) הַצּ֣וּר (the rock) אֲגַם־ (into a pool) מָ֑יִם (of waters),

חַ֝לָּמִ֗ישׁ (the flint) לְמַעְיְנוֹ־ (into a spring) מָֽיִם׃ (of waters).
