Good News Translation
But the disciples did not understand any of these things; the meaning of the words was hidden from them, and they did not know what Jesus was talking about.

But they understood nothing about all these things; in fact, what he said was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.

The apostles did not understand what Jesus was talking about. They could not understand, because the meaning of what he said was hidden from them.
