Psalm 10
BSB Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Berean Study BibleChristian Standard Bible
Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?1LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide in times of trouble?
In pride the wicked pursue the needy; let them be caught in the schemes they devise.2In arrogance the wicked relentlessly pursue their victims; let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.
For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.3For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the LORD.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.4In all his scheming, the wicked person arrogantly thinks, "There's no accountability, since there's no God."
He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes.5His ways are always secure; your lofty judgments have no effect on him; he scoffs at all his adversaries.
He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”6He says to himself, "I will never be moved--from generation to generation without calamity."
His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and violence; trouble and malice are under his tongue.7Cursing, deceit, and violence fill his mouth; trouble and malice are under his tongue.
He lies in wait near the villages; in ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in stealth for the helpless.8He waits in ambush near settlements; he kills the innocent in secret places. His eyes are on the lookout for the helpless;
He lies in wait like a lion in a thicket; he lurks to seize the oppressed; he catches the lowly in his net.9he lurks in secret like a lion in a thicket. He lurks in order to seize a victim; he seizes a victim and drags him in his net.
They are crushed and beaten down; the hapless fall prey to his strength.10So he is oppressed and beaten down; helpless people fall because of the wicked one's strength.
He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.”11He says to himself, "God has forgotten; he hides his face and will never see."
Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O God! Do not forget the helpless.12Rise up, LORD God! Lift up your hand. Do not forget the oppressed.
Why has the wicked man renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”13Why has the wicked person despised God? He says to himself, "You will not demand an account."
But You have regarded trouble and grief; You see to repay it by Your hand. The victim entrusts himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.14But you yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into your hands. The helpless one entrusts himself to you; you are a helper of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call him to account for his wickedness until none is left to be found.15Break the arm of the wicked, evil person, until you look for his wickedness, but it can't be found.
The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations perish from His land.16The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.
You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will incline Your ear,17LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,
to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, that the men of the earth may strike terror no more.18doing justice for the fatherless and the oppressed so that mere humans from the earth may terrify them no more.
