Berean Study Bible | English Standard Version |
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. | 1In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! |
In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me. | 2In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! |
Be my rock of refuge, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. |
Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless. | 4Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. |
For You are my hope, O Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth. | 5For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. |
I have leaned on You since birth; You pulled me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always for You. | 6Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you. |
I have become a portent to many, but You are my strong refuge. | 7I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. |
My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your splendor all day long. | 8My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. |
Do not discard me in my old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails. | 9Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. |
For my enemies speak against me, and those who lie in wait for my life conspire, | 10For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together |
saying, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.” | 11and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.” |
Be not far from me, O God. Hurry, O my God, to help me. | 12O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! |
May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace. | 13May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt. |
But I will always hope and will praise You more and more. | 14But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more. |
My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure. | 15My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. |
I will enter in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim Your righteousness—Yours alone. | 16With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone. |
O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I proclaim Your marvelous deeds. | 17O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. |
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come. | 18So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. |
Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You? | 19Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? |
Though You have shown me many troubles and misfortunes, You will revive me once again. Even from the depths of the earth You will bring me back up. | 20You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. |
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. | 21You will increase my greatness and comfort me again. |
So I will praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to You with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. | 22I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. |
When I sing praise to You my lips will shout for joy, along with my soul, which You have redeemed. | 23My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. |
My tongue will indeed proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my harm are disgraced and confounded. | 24And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt. |
