Berean Study BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
For the choirmaster. According to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. Help, O LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men.1For the choir director; upon an eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm of David. Help, LORD, for the godly man ceases to be, For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
They lie to one another; they speak with flattering lips and a double heart.2They speak falsehood to one another; With flattering lips and with a double heart they speak.
May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue.3May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaks great things;
They say, “With our tongues we will prevail. We own our lips—who can be our master?”4Who have said, "With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; who is lord over us?"
“For the cause of the oppressed and for the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will bring safety to him who yearns.”5"Because of the devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy, Now I will arise," says the LORD; "I will set him in the safety for which he longs."
The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace, like gold purified sevenfold.6The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.
You, O LORD, will keep us; You will forever guard us from this generation.7You, O LORD, will keep them; You will preserve him from this generation forever.
The wicked wander freely, and vileness is exalted among men.8The wicked strut about on every side When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
