For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” A Psalm of Asaph. Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth1For the choir director; set to El Shoshannim; Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!
before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your mighty power and come to save us.2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!
Restore us, O God, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.3O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
O LORD God of Hosts, how long will Your anger smolder against the prayers of Your people?4O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?
You fed them with the bread of tears and made them drink the full measure of their tears.5You have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure.
You make us contend with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.6You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.
Restore us, O God of Hosts, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.7O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and transplanted it.8You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.10The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs.
It sent out its branches to the Sea, and its shoots toward the River.11It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River.
Why have You broken down its walls, so that all who pass by pick its fruit?12Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?
The boar from the forest ravages it, and the creatures of the field feed upon it.13A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.
Return, O God of Hosts, we pray! Look down from heaven and see! Attend to this vine—14O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,
the root Your right hand has planted, the son You have raised up for Yourself.15Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.
Your vine has been cut down and burned; they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.16It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
Let Your hand be upon the man at Your right hand, on the son of man You have raised up for Yourself.17Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.
Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name.18Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
Restore us, O LORD God of Hosts; cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.19O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
