| 6We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith; | 6Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; |
| 7if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; | 7if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; |
| 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. | 8or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. |
| 9Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. | 9Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. |
| 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another. | 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; |
| 11Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. | 11not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; |
| 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer. | 12rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, |
| 13Share with the saints who are in need. Practice hospitality. | 13contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. |

| 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. | 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. |
| 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be conceited. | 16Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. |
| 17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody. | 17Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. |
| 18If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone. | 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. |
| 19Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.” | 19Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. |
