Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.1Παρακαλῶ οὖν ὑμᾶς ἀδελφοί διὰ τῶν οἰκτιρμῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ παραστῆσαι τὰ σώματα ὑμῶν θυσίαν ζῶσαν ἁγίαν «τῷ Θεῷ» εὐάρεστον τὴν λογικὴν λατρείαν ὑμῶν
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.2καὶ μὴ συσχηματίζεσθε τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ ἀλλὰ μεταμορφοῦσθε τῇ ἀνακαινώσει τοῦ νοός εἰς τὸ δοκιμάζειν ὑμᾶς τί τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ τὸ ἀγαθὸν καὶ εὐάρεστον καὶ τέλειον
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you.3Λέγω γὰρ διὰ τῆς χάριτος τῆς δοθείσης μοι παντὶ τῷ ὄντι ἐν ὑμῖν μὴ ὑπερφρονεῖν παρ’ δεῖ φρονεῖν ἀλλὰ φρονεῖν εἰς τὸ σωφρονεῖν ἑκάστῳ ὡς Θεὸς ἐμέρισεν μέτρον πίστεως
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function,4καθάπερ γὰρ ἐν ἑνὶ σώματι πολλὰ μέλη ἔχομεν τὰ δὲ μέλη πάντα οὐ τὴν αὐτὴν ἔχει πρᾶξιν
so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another.5οὕτως οἱ πολλοὶ ἓν σῶμά ἐσμεν ἐν Χριστῷ τὸ δὲ καθ’ εἷς ἀλλήλων μέλη
We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith;6Ἔχοντες δὲ χαρίσματα κατὰ τὴν χάριν τὴν δοθεῖσαν ἡμῖν διάφορα εἴτε προφητείαν κατὰ τὴν ἀναλογίαν τῆς πίστεως
if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;7εἴτε διακονίαν ἐν τῇ διακονίᾳ εἴτε διδάσκων ἐν τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ
if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.8εἴτε παρακαλῶν ἐν τῇ παρακλήσει μεταδιδοὺς ἐν ἁπλότητι προϊστάμενος ἐν σπουδῇ ἐλεῶν ἐν ἱλαρότητι
Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.9 ἀγάπη ἀνυπόκριτος ἀποστυγοῦντες τὸ πονηρόν κολλώμενοι τῷ ἀγαθῷ
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another.10τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ εἰς ἀλλήλους φιλόστοργοι τῇ τιμῇ ἀλλήλους προηγούμενοι
Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.11τῇ σπουδῇ μὴ ὀκνηροί τῷ πνεύματι ζέοντες τῷ Κυρίῳ δουλεύοντες
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.12τῇ ἐλπίδι χαίροντες τῇ θλίψει ὑπομένοντες τῇ προσευχῇ προσκαρτεροῦντες
Share with the saints who are in need. Practice hospitality.13ταῖς χρείαις τῶν ἁγίων κοινωνοῦντες τὴν φιλοξενίαν διώκοντες
Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.14Εὐλογεῖτε τοὺς διώκοντας [ὑμᾶς] εὐλογεῖτε καὶ μὴ καταρᾶσθε
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.15χαίρειν μετὰ χαιρόντων κλαίειν μετὰ κλαιόντων
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody.17μηδενὶ κακὸν ἀντὶ κακοῦ ἀποδιδόντες προνοούμενοι καλὰ ἐνώπιον πάντων ἀνθρώπων
If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.18εἰ δυνατόν τὸ ἐξ ὑμῶν μετὰ πάντων ἀνθρώπων εἰρηνεύοντες
Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”19μὴ ἑαυτοὺς ἐκδικοῦντες ἀγαπητοί ἀλλὰ δότε τόπον τῇ ὀργῇ γέγραπται γάρ Ἐμοὶ ἐκδίκησις ἐγὼ ἀνταποδώσω λέγει Κύριος
On the contrary, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head.”20Ἀλλὰ Ἐὰν πεινᾷ ἐχθρός σου ψώμιζε αὐτόν ἐὰν διψᾷ πότιζε αὐτόν τοῦτο γὰρ ποιῶν ἄνθρακας πυρὸς σωρεύσεις ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.21Μὴ νικῶ ὑπὸ τοῦ κακοῦ ἀλλὰ νίκα ἐν τῷ ἀγαθῷ τὸ κακόν
