LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger; do not discipline me in your wrath. | 1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath. |
Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking; | 2Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am frail; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are in agony. |
my whole being is shaken with terror. And you, LORD--how long? | 3My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long? |
Turn, LORD! Rescue me; save me because of your faithful love. | 4Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion. |
For there is no remembrance of you in death; who can thank you in Sheol? | 5For there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from Sheol? |
I am weary from my groaning; with my tears I dampen my bed and drench my couch every night. | 6I am weary from groaning; all night I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. |
My eyes are swollen from grief; they grow old because of all my enemies. | 7My eyes fail from grief; they grow dim because of all my foes. |
Depart from me, all evildoers, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. |
All my enemies will be ashamed and shake with terror; they will turn back and suddenly be disgraced. | 10All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace. |
