LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger; do not discipline me in your wrath. | 1For the choir director; with stringed instruments, upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your wrath. |
Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking; | 2Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away; Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed. |
my whole being is shaken with terror. And you, LORD--how long? | 3And my soul is greatly dismayed; But You, O LORD-- how long? |
Turn, LORD! Rescue me; save me because of your faithful love. | 4Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your lovingkindness. |
For there is no remembrance of you in death; who can thank you in Sheol? | 5For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks? |
I am weary from my groaning; with my tears I dampen my bed and drench my couch every night. | 6I am weary with my sighing; Every night I make my bed swim, I dissolve my couch with my tears. |
My eyes are swollen from grief; they grow old because of all my enemies. | 7My eye has wasted away with grief; It has become old because of all my adversaries. |
Depart from me, all evildoers, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all you who do iniquity, For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my supplication, The LORD receives my prayer. |
All my enemies will be ashamed and shake with terror; they will turn back and suddenly be disgraced. | 10All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed; They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed. |
