Christian Standard Bible | New Living Translation |
God, you have rejected us; you have broken us down; you have been angry. Restore us! | 1You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor. |
You have shaken the land and split it open. Heal its fissures, for it shudders. | 2You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles. |
You have made your people suffer hardship; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger. | 3You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling. |
You have given a signal flag to those who fear you, so that they can flee before the archers. Selah | 4But you have raised a banner for those who fear you— a rallying point in the face of attack. Interlude |
Save with your right hand, and answer me, so that those you love may be rescued. | 5Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power. |
God has spoken in his sanctuary: "I will celebrate! I will divide up Shechem. I will apportion the Valley of Succoth. | 6God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth. |
Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. | 7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings. |
Moab is my washbasin. I throw my sandal on Edom; I shout in triumph over Philistia." | 8But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.” |
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? | 9Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? |
God, haven't you rejected us? God, you do not march out with our armies. | 10Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? |
Give us aid against the foe, for human help is worthless. | 11Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. |
With God we will perform valiantly; he will trample our foes. | 12With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. |
