English Standard Version | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. | 1For the choir director; with stringed instruments, upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your wrath. |
Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. | 2Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away; Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed. |
My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD—how long? | 3And my soul is greatly dismayed; But You, O LORD-- how long? |
Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. | 4Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your lovingkindness. |
For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise? | 5For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks? |
I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. | 6I am weary with my sighing; Every night I make my bed swim, I dissolve my couch with my tears. |
My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes. | 7My eye has wasted away with grief; It has become old because of all my adversaries. |
Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all you who do iniquity, For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my supplication, The LORD receives my prayer. |
All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment. | 10All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed; They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed. |
