O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us. | 1For the choir director; according to Shushan Eduth. A Mikhtam of David, to teach; when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have rejected us. You have broken us; You have been angry; O, restore us. |
You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters. | 2You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters. |
You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger. | 3You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger. |
You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah | 4You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. |
That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us! | 5That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and answer us! |
God has spoken in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth. | 6God has spoken in His holiness: "I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth. |
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. | 7"Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter. |
Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” | 8"Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe; Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!" |
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? | 9Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom? |
Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies. | 10Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, O God? |
Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! | 11O give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain. |
With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. | 12Through God we shall do valiantly, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries. |
