who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip. | 9He preserves our lives and does not allow our feet to slip. |
For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. | 10For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver. |
You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; | 11You led us into a trap; you caused us to suffer. |
you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance. | 12You allowed men to ride over our heads; we passed through fire and water, but you brought us out into a wide open place. |
I will come into your house with burnt offerings; I will perform my vows to you, | 13I will enter your temple with burnt sacrifices; I will fulfill the vows I made to you, |
that which my lips uttered and my mouth promised when I was in trouble. | 14which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble. |
I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals, with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams; I will make an offering of bulls and goats. Selah | 15I will offer up to you fattened animals as burnt sacrifices, along with the smell of sacrificial rams. I will offer cattle and goats. (Selah) |
Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. | 16Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! I will declare what he has done for me. |
I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. | 17I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue. |
If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. | 18If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. |
But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. | 19However, God heard; he listened to my prayer. |
Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me! | 20God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer or abandon his love for me! |
