Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.1Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—3And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.4Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.5Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
