| 2Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created. | 2He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them "Mankind" when they were created. |
| 3When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. | 3When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. |
| 4The days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters. | 4After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 5Thus all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died. | 5Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died. |

| 23Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. | 23Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. |
| 24Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. | 24Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. |
| 25When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech. | 25When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. |
| 26Methuselah lived after he fathered Lamech 782 years and had other sons and daughters. | 26After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 27Thus all the days of Methuselah were 969 years, and he died. | 27Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died. |
| 28When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son | 28When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. |
| 29and called his name Noah, saying, “Out of the ground that the LORD has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.” | 29He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." |
| 30Lamech lived after he fathered Noah 595 years and had other sons and daughters. | 30After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 31Thus all the days of Lamech were 777 years, and he died. | 31Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died. |
| 32After Noah was 500 years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth. | 32After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. |
