Bezalel and Oholiab and all the skilled craftsmen to whom the LORD gave wisdom and understanding to know how to do all the work in constructing the sanctuary are to do everything that the LORD has commanded." | 1“Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whom the LORD has put skill and intelligence to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work in accordance with all that the LORD has commanded.” |
Then Moses summoned Bezalel, Oholiab, and all the skilled people to whom the LORD had given ability, including everyone whose hearts stirred them to come forward to do the work. | 2And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whose mind the LORD had put skill, everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work. |
They received from Moses all the offerings that the Israelis had brought for doing the work of constructing the sanctuary, and the people continued to bring freewill offerings every morning. | 3And they received from Moses all the contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning, |
All the craftsmen who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left the work they were doing | 4so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing, |
and told Moses, "The people are bringing much more than enough for the work that the LORD has commanded us to do." | 5and said to Moses, “The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do.” |
Then Moses issued an order, and the message was taken throughout the camp, "Men and women, don't bring any more offerings for the sanctuary." The people were restrained from bringing any more, | 6So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, “Let no man or woman do anything more for the contribution for the sanctuary.” So the people were restrained from bringing, |
since the material was more than sufficient for doing all the work. | 7for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more. |
All the skilled craftsmen among the workers made the tent with ten curtains of fine woven linen, blue, purple, and scarlet material. He made them with cherubim skillfully worked into them. | 8And all the craftsmen among the workmen made the tabernacle with ten curtains. They were made of fine twined linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarns, with cherubim skillfully worked. |
The length of each curtain was 28 cubits, and the width of each curtain two cubits. All the curtains had the same measurements. | 9The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits. All the curtains were the same size. |
He joined five of the curtains together, and the other five curtains he joined together. | 10He coupled five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he coupled to one another. |
He made loops of blue material along the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set, and likewise, he made loops along the edge of the outermost curtain in the second set. | 11He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain of the first set. Likewise he made them on the edge of the outermost curtain of the second set. |
He made 50 loops in the one curtain, and he made 50 loops along the edge of the curtain that is in the second set, with the loops opposite each other. | 12He made fifty loops on the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was in the second set. The loops were opposite one another. |
Then he made 50 gold clasps, and joined the curtains to each other with the clasps so the tent was one piece. | 13And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains one to the other with clasps. So the tabernacle was a single whole. |
He made curtains of goat hair for a tent over the tent; he made 11 curtains. | 14He also made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle. He made eleven curtains. |
The length of each curtain was 30 cubits, and the width of each curtain was two cubits; the measurements of each of the eleven curtains was the same. | 15The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits. The eleven curtains were the same size. |
He joined five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves. | 16He coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves. |
He made 50 loops along the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set, and 50 loops along the edge of the curtain of the other set. | 17And he made fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain of the one set, and fifty loops on the edge of the other connecting curtain. |
He made 50 bronze clasps to join the tent together so it would be one piece. | 18And he made fifty clasps of bronze to couple the tent together that it might be a single whole. |
Then he made a cover for the tent of ram skins dyed red and a covering of dolphin skins above that. | 19And he made for the tent a covering of tanned rams’ skins and goatskins. |
Then he made upright boards of acacia wood for the tent. | 20Then he made the upright frames for the tabernacle of acacia wood. |
Each board was ten cubits long, and one and a half cubits wide. | 21Ten cubits was the length of a frame, and a cubit and a half the breadth of each frame. |
Each board had two pegs, joined to one another, and he did this for all the boards of the tent. | 22Each frame had two tenons for fitting together. He did this for all the frames of the tabernacle. |
He made the boards for the tent: 20 boards for the south side. | 23The frames for the tabernacle he made thus: twenty frames for the south side. |
He made 40 silver sockets under the 20 boards: two sockets under one board for its two pegs and two sockets under the next board for its two pegs. | 24And he made forty bases of silver under the twenty frames, two bases under one frame for its two tenons, and two bases under the next frame for its two tenons. |
For the second side of the tent to the north he made 20 boards, | 25For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty frames |
and 40 silver sockets for them, two sockets under one board and two sockets under the next board. | 26and their forty bases of silver, two bases under one frame and two bases under the next frame. |
For the rear of the tent on the west he made six boards, | 27For the rear of the tabernacle westward he made six frames. |
and he made two boards for the rear corners of the tent. | 28He made two frames for corners of the tabernacle in the rear. |
They were joined together at the bottom and they were connected on top, by one ring. He did this for the two of them, and they were the two corners. | 29And they were separate beneath but joined at the top, at the first ring. He made two of them this way for the two corners. |
There were eight boards with their sixteen silver sockets, two sockets under each board. | 30There were eight frames with their bases of silver: sixteen bases, under every frame two bases. |
Then he made bars of acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the tent, | 31He made bars of acacia wood, five for the frames of the one side of the tabernacle, |
five bars for the boards on the second side of the tent, and five bars for the boards on the back side of the tent to the west. | 32and five bars for the frames of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the frames of the tabernacle at the rear westward. |
He made the middle bar in the center of the boards pass through from end to end. | 33And he made the middle bar to run from end to end halfway up the frames. |
He overlaid the boards with gold, and made gold rings for them as holders for the bars, and he overlaid the bars with gold. | 34And he overlaid the frames with gold, and made their rings of gold for holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold. |
